Specialist Group Work and Social Activities

We offer a holistic group work programme to migrant women survivors. The group work provides a safe space for migrant women to come together as a community, learn and share new skills, develop a supportive network, and provide peer support in the spirit of solidarity, sisterhood, and collectivism.

We currently offer the following group sessions, which take place on a weekly basis.

Please note that we do not accept external referrals into our group work or social activity services. Instead, migrant women already accessing our wider services, i.e advocacy or accommodation support, can be internally referred into the group work programme, including social activities, by Safety4Sister staff members.

Migrant Survivors Writing Group:

The group offers a therapeutic space for migrant women survivors to come together to engage with, reimagine and explore writing for themselves and each other. Women have reclaimed their stories through writing in different forms, such as poetry, short stories, direct testimony, and journals. The Migrant Survivors Writing Group has so far, published two pieces of work:

This is We: a collection of writing from the writing group, where they speak of journeys navigating a brutal and cruel terrain of oppression, but also of resilience, hope, enjoyment, sisterhood, and a deep yearning for better futures.

This is Me: a powerful, collaborative play born from the voice of the members of the writing group. Through poetry, testimony and drama, the play explores the realities of domestic violence, racism, and the systemic obstacles these women face in their fight for safety and dignity.

Safety4Sisters Women Together:

Women Together is a monthly social group, providing the opportunity for all women accessing support from Safety4Sisters (whether new to the organisation or long-standing) to integrate with one other, and build community and safe networks. Activities include culturally appropriate trips out and celebrations.
